The Riverdale Press published a good editorial following up on CSO boondoggle issue discussed on the Slog back in August. Here's a snippet of the editorial:

"The history of the filtration plant has been a history of miscalculation, evasion and outright falsehood on the part of the DEP and of the application of raw and resentful political power on the part of City Hall and the Bronx Democratic machine.

If residents turn away now, saying the fight is over, chances are the same sort of heedless, foolish project will be thrust on New Yorkers again in the not-so-distant future. The only hope for avoiding that is to continue to demand an accounting for the waste of water, of parkland and of hundreds of millions of dollars that the filtration plant represents.

There were smarter ways and better places to build a water filtration plant. Will anyone be held accountable for the city's screw-ups?"
